Default 2x4 to 4x4 conversion

Hi everyone! Pretty new to the forum but im filled with a few questions on a recent project i got here. Shes a 1997 Chevy k3500 dually with a 6.5T in her. It comes fairly loaded, minus 4 wheel drive. I want to at the very most put in the stock set up from maybe a junk yard 4x4 set up of the same year and model and drop it in, but i have no idea if any modifying is needed or all together what parts i need to ask form from my hook up at my local junk yard. Im a Technician a GM shop so i have access to shop tools if needed.

thanks again everyone!

K series is 4X4 C series is 2X4 and to do that you will need a 4X4 frame due to it's having torsion bars and 2X4 does not.

if i remember correctly, the k3500 came with an ifs, so that would probably work better on my c3500 for a 4x4 set up right? I would like to try a solid axle setup, but that would be too much of a pain installing.

plus stuff like torsion bars can be installed in the truck if im not mistaken.

Your best bet is to search Craigslist for a donor truck. Buying parts one at a time will cost a fortune.

Auto or 5 speed? I know you can't bolt a transfer case up to a 2wd NV4500. Not sure about automatics.
