The line at the rear of the IP is the fuel inlet line, the line at the frt of the IP is the fuel reurn line.

There is no good test for a PMD-replace it with a known working PMD is the only good test.

Bomber4life 10-03-2013 05:49 PM

So the line that points strate upward right beside the fsd is the inlet ? For some reason I haven't checked that yet

racer55 10-03-2013 06:13 PM

Yes thats the IP inlet.

Yes thats the inlet.

Bomber4life 10-07-2013 11:21 PM

Lol so anyways got it started!!!! Finally turns out the guy that put the ip in put the feed line for the pump on the return line !!! So that would have been the problem and also my ECM was shot , but yah new problem here when I step on the peddle I get tons of black smoke , it is a standard so i understand I will have turbo leg , so when I was putting my turbo back on after all of this mess I have been going through this past 2 weeks and the exhaust side of the turbo was fine and the air inlet side was fine, what else does a guy check ? When is is ruining nothing else controls how fast it runs besides the waste gate right , and when it is idling the turbine doesn't spin that fast either

racer55 10-08-2013 07:25 AM

The vacuum system must be working and holding the wastegate shut tight at idle.

Also the boost is load dependant so gunning it parked will get you no boost at any time-you must be accellerating, towing heavy or hill climbing to get boost from the turbo system.

Bomber4life 10-08-2013 08:31 AM

I manually opened the Gate and it sped up a bit, some guy. Told me that it should be spinning at 1400 at idle , that can't be true could it ? And one more question what effects does my lift pump being hard wired in to my cab " so it's always running no matter what" does that wreck anything ?

racer55 10-08-2013 12:11 PM

There is no way to know turbo RPM at any speed since boost is load dependant-you don't get boost unless th engine is unler load.

There is no problem mechanically with the LP hardwired-the problem comes when you get in an accident and are uncinsious and the broken fuel line dumps diesel everywhere and you or someone else gets BBQ'd.

On a 98 the LP is activated by the ECM through the relay so there should be no need for a hardwired LP,add to that the OPS is a secondary LP power source and you should never have a need to hardwire the LP.
Repair whats there for safety sake.

Ok got that all figured out new problem now, so I got her all sealed up everything was awesome ran perfect, so I drove it home . It was about 15 kms away so I got home then tried to start again to put it in the garadge and it slowly turned over like the battery was dead so I got the boosters and tried to boost it and nothin happend the gauge says it's dead but the batteries are fully charged , and the longer I was messing around with it the les power I as getting, my sterio stopped working and my lights where dimming but my battery's where fully charged ??????? It doesn't make any sense to me

And I do have good connection on my batteries

racer55 10-10-2013 08:09 AM

You likely have corrosion between the battery cables and their crimped on ends, remocve the insulation from the terminal ends and look for the green mess.
Repair or replace cables.

Bomber4life 10-10-2013 08:35 AM

The cables are clean tho ? It just seems odd that this would happen all of a sudden bc I have started it about 10 times b4 I left the shop to bring it home
