Whit's Cabin

Down the creek from the cabin about 6 miles lies the old Timbaba Mining Company wash station, this unit ran on rails and was constructed in 100 foot sections so the 3/4 yard dragline could load ore into the hopper of the wash station and pull the wash plant along the creek as it needed, acording to the book of history I am reading here the mining operation started in 1933 and ran 24 hours a day (shut down in winter months) until the gooberment shut it down in 1942, and here it sets nuttin has changed . I have a pic of the large trommel inside that the hopper feed, the trommel had 1" diameter holes that all the fines setteled out in then down to riffelboxes where the gold settled out in, alot of water was used to make this work, the gold was picked up every 10 days from the riffel boxes where they would use mercury to attract all the placer gold into ***** , then the mercury was heated and this seperated the mercury from the gold, it has been documented of 35,000 ounces of gold was turned in from this wash plant over the years........interesting eh
