That's my thought on those also. I hate when someone drives on my driveway before I get the snow cleaned off it. It's Blacktop and just seems to pack down and turn to ice. I can just imagine backing in with my dually and trying to pull that packed down snow off my driveway

Well up here in Buffalo we use those types of plows a lot. We call them drift busters. Like Red said, the things aren't made for plowing a whole driveway. We use them to clean up, backdrag close to curbs or garage doors or ramps, whatever, then once that snow is out of the way, back up tight to the door drop the drift buster, and pull out. They actually scrape better than backdragging with a front plow due to the angle of attack.

I'd never use one without having a front plow... and I like my Blizzard Power Plow, I can move twice the snow any straight blade can. And I can go from an 8' Blade to a 10' blade in seconds. I'd like to see a V-Plow do that.
