DT466 with Allison 545 issue
I posted this in the incorrect forum. Putting my DT466C in my 31 Buick realllllll soon. Need ya'll to help me though. My going in my hot rod so some of the weaknesses of the 545 would hurt me as much as bigger heavier rigs. Will post pics soon.
Ran into a sticking point though. I have a '91 DT466c motor and a AT545 trans. I have the 466 to AT 545 adapter plate. Problem, my torque converter seems to be too small to bolt to the flex plate. Do I need a new TC or Flexplate (or both)? Part numbers would be AWESOME if you got em!

From what I can see, there's only 1 flywheel/flexplate for Allison for a 466. Same deal with the converter, they show 2 different stall converters, but no mounting options. I'm saying, there's gotta be an adapter for it, or take it to a machine shop and drill it.
A 31 Buick? At least you have a long hood to work with.

Thanks sir. I will absolutely take your advice. Where can I buy the governor spring kit and how does it work?
It had a MT643 which I will go back to once I am closer to home. I have a great resource near ft Campbell KY that I buy parts from, but I am attendingHot Rod Institute out here in South Dakota. I am going to get it running with this and switch it out later.

Here's how to do the gov springs:
Here's the gov springs(a vendor from this site): PacBrake 3K/4K Governor Springs - HP10029 - Diesel Auto Power, LLC
They are simply stiffer springs to keep the flyweights from cutting the fuel so soon. Using all the springs in the kit lets it rev to about 34-3500. Setting it up as a 3k kit(leaving out the smallest spring) will let it rev to 2950-3150.
Your school may be able to help you find a place to get your injectors extrude honed too.
