Default Super B Special

Dave I was wondering what the specs on the Super B special were.Like Comp size and ehx housing? And how much power will they really make?

Honestly I do not like to give the specs out because they are irrelevant when using the Borg Warner extended fin tips wheels. These wheels acts like a larger wheel but the mass does not have to increase as much, this is why comparing numbers like 57, 62, 64 on a non-extended tip is inaccurate comparison. A compressor map will tell you so much more!

The rotation speed at the end of the extended tip would naturally increase at the same RPM creating more volume, thus actual mass of the wheel does not necessarily have to increase in speed to produce more volume. They do rotate at a higher RPM but unlike the stock wheel it is designed to endure the higher speeds. The higher speed coupled with the extended fin tip is what makes these turbos work so good at the top end with out creating a bunch of lag or surge issues.

Out perform how? That's is a loaded question, what are you using the truck for? do you mean out perform on the track, daily driving or towing?

I would need to look at the compressor map of that 62/12 to determine exactly what benefits you would see with the Super B over the that turbo. I would guess the spool up time would be about equal, the top end efficiency would probably much higher with the Special with less surge issues.

now watch the response I get....

It is basically a daily driver that gets beat on hard and see's the track and dyno in the summer. My 62/12 surges and gets pretty warm. I know I am asking alot of a 62/12 with my fueling but the 64/14 is a big jump. I just want something with a little better maners that will make a little more power and run cooler.

Obviously twins are going to be your best bet but keeping cost in mind if you are looking for cooler temps at the top end the Super B will definitly deliver. The turbo configuration of the Special is not recommend for towing, it sound like you are more interested in playing with your rig that towing with it so I am confident you will be satisfied with the Special.

Hope this helps, I was trying to post the compressor MAP of the Special but the file is too big for the forum. I can e-mail it to you if you like.

The Super B Special (64/71-14) is the same as HTT quick diesel 64 and II SPS 64, BUT from what I've been told the machine work on the Super B Special is BETTER than that of HTT and II.

BD builds a damn good turbo. I have been thrashing on my twins for 2 years now and they just smile and ask for more. Have them set for 74 psi right now! Got to love a BD product!
