"R"amsoil VS Royal Purple
#21
Sounds like a good idea Ndurbin. I have used royal purple and redline, as well as a little bit of amsoil, and thus far, amsoil has proven to be what I like. I like it so much, I think I am going to become a dealer for them as well, and with Heath's help, it looks like I could make a decent supplement to my income in this area of the state.

I'm just curious what it will result and if it varies from what I've seen published. I have one customer that plans on compairing the FS2500 to the BMK-11 Amsoil single bypass on his PSD.
I mean how turthfully can you take some tests, wether the results are furnished by a 3rd party or not. A company isn't going to throw out a sample test they paid for and use it for advertising if it makes themselves look bad vs. other oils.
I forgot to mention I'll be using Fleetguard filters for all the tests. I'd like to find some other interested parties to do the same with other trucks just to see if it all holds constant but thats not the easiest to do.

I have the BMK-13 waiting to go on my truck once this is done and I get a mounting bracket fabbed up for it. Will probably do some more testing once thats on to see if the same oil still gives the best results.
They defintely save money, on a large sump capacity motor anyway. On all my gassers it comes out about even or slightly more to run a synethetic all year.

The drain interval for either the 5W-30 or the 15W-40 diesel oils is 15000 for severe service or 25000 miles for normal..or 1 year, whichever comes first. Don't know too many diesel owners who don't tow something, so stick with the 15000...unless doing oil analysis. Chances are you could go much further. The new CJ-4 5W-40 (2007 models and newer) is only recommended for the same interval the manuf. recommends due to the lower TBN level
The Ea oil filter can go the same distance. If using Fleetgard or others, then change at manuf. recommended intervals.
I see you burn veg. As with biodiesels, the intervals (life of oil)could be shortened. I would recommend analysis at 10000 if going that far just to see if any dilution is going on. Here is an article they put out on the matter:

Hope that helps.
