Hey Ed,

Your AirDog should start running just with the key in the forward position. You should not hane to bump the starter to get the pump to kick on. If you are having to bump the starter, then you need to plug your "Mini Fuse Tap Relay" lead into a spare fuse holder on your fuse panel that is "hot" when the starter key is turned to the on position.

I hope this helps.

Ron

My buddy just installed an AirDog 100 in his 2003 Dodge. It works great when the tank is full, but when it gets down into the 1/4 to 1/3 tank range, the engine starts missing and actually stalls. Fill it up, and it is fine again. We believe that the return stream is churning air into the fuel, and is being picked up by the pickup line. Are we on the right track, and has anyone else encountered this? If so, what is the fix?

This is a common problem. It can usually be fixed by installing an upgraded Draw Straw.

I have a couple questions for you. You said your buddy's truck is a 2003 Dodge. Does he have have an in-tank pump? The factory pump would be located up by the filter, but if he has had to replace his lift pump before then it may have had an in-tank pump put in. If he has an in-tank pump, and you put in a draw tube kit, then this would help to explain the 1/4 tank issue. We can eliminate this with our new High Flow Fuel Module Upgrade Kit. This kit allows you to pull fuel from the basket and it returns the unused fuel right back to the basket. The concern that you had about introducing air into the fuel from the return line is not a problrm. The AirDog will remove more air than could ever be introduced from your return line. With our test stand we can pull fuel from our tank that looks like foam and send a clean stream of fuel to the pump.

Normally, the 2003 Dodge kit would pull from the existing fitting at the top of the basket, and return to the fill neck. If this is the way it was installed then you should not be experiencing any 1/4 tank issues. If this is the way it was installed and you do not have an in-tank pump and you are still experiencing this, then I would have to assume there is an issue with your existing suction line.

We are working on a kit for Dodge trucks that do not have an in-tank pump. This kit should be available within the next couple of weeks.

Feel free to contact us here at PureFlow. We will be happy to help you find the root of the issue.

Thanks,

Ron

We do have a pump coming that is a replacement pump for the Fords, similar to what we have for the Dodge trucks. These pumps should be available within the next few weeks. We are starting to get a pretty good size per-order list, so if you want one quickly, I would say get a hold of your dealer and have him order one.

Thanks,

Ron
