WIF Sensor? Hey Charlie
Hey charlie,
im going to delete my stock filter and have my airdog system do the work, but i got a quick question that came across my mind last night. On the stock filter there's a water in fuel sensor that trips when the filter fills up with water, but i was thinking that since my airdog does all of the water removing now i dont even have to worry about it going off.
What really got me thinkin last nite is why isnt there a WIF sensor that trips a light when the water seperator gets full, the airdog already has one for low fuel pressure and tells you when u change the filters, but if it just extra water in the FF there could also be a light to let you kno to drain it too. I dont have the FP light on my truck i have a FP gauge already i watch it all the time but maybe there could be an option for both or either one maybe. so right now i currently have a the extra wiring for the FP light laying around my airdog and under my dash.
or am i just askin too much, cause i know there is a bleed screw on the bottom of the water seperator too but im too lazy to go down there and check, my WIF sensor has only gone off once on me when i had no lift pump before but that was an easy fix.

Why would you want to remove a double barrier of protection? So far I've proven with my my install that running the AirDog with the factory system greatly prolongs the life of the stock filter system.
The low pressure light has nothing to do with WIF and is reading a pressure drop due to restriction in the filter. Install the light. Its easy, as well as being the best indicator that your AirDog filter is needing to be changed. Also, you need to be draining the water out of it once a month. So far I've seen an extremely small amount of water because of how fast we get diesel here from refinery to tank here in Houston and the climate but drain it once a month just for good measure.

i got the airdog system with out the low pressure light relay on top of the airdog so the extra connector that's in my harness is kinda useless, but i have a FP gauge to monitor my pressure so i can change by inspection.
But how many filters can you add before it gets restrictive on the system cause the airdog will only push 12~13 psi to the filter and then the rest of it is dumped back to the tank. and correct me if im wrong but dont the airdog filter better than the stock filter already to begin with? i think for my model is 5 micron but airdog is 3 i think?

Is your FP reading the rail or input to the CP3?
Number of filters isnt the issue its level of filtration. My AirDog 150 stays fairly close to 20psi which is WELL more than enough to push fuel and hold rail pressure with multiple filters. Whats being dumped back to tank is what the fuel system cant handle so thats over and above what your commanding and what the restrictions in the system will allow. On all 3 of the DMAX's I've own the stock filter would start to clog around 13-15K and would need to be replaced. Since installing the AirDog and changing my factory filter, right now I have almost 20K on the stocker. Extra protekshun baby!! I would leave it Danno. Extra protection and I havent seen any adverse affects. If the Nicktane system works fine then the stocker and AirDog will too.

If anything.....the AirDog would be where your restriction would start since it is closest to the tank. Leave the stock and enjoy the added protection and diesel filtering. Needed even more with your LB7 injectors.
Have you been adding extra HP to your truck? You might keep an eye on your head gaskets after you add your water pump. I've heard of several people have gasket problems right around the same time as their water pump gave up the ghost.

well if is my luck does turn out to be that bad, i wont have an excuse to not get my heads studded and get a monster turbo then
Maybe ill relocate the stock filter to next to my airdog and use the existing empty wire harness for my air dog to connect the WIF sensor left under the hood. but that stocker is going to be bypassed for now, maybe a niktane would be good
but im just experimenting right now, if i like the results im going to do some modifications to some things.

wait did i hear you say that filters are restrictive?
what about the Extra protekshun baby!!
when i decide what im going to do with the filter setup right now the airdog will do the work.
