The TH mode with more aggressive shift patterns and lockup strategy was implemented in MY05. Before that TH was OD off, after 05 they had both OD off and TH.

Running in TH mode all the time won't hurt a thing. OD engagement is too early for some driving but the better shifting and lockup in drive is nice.

The boost fooler is allowing more boost and more fuel at the shift point so it seems to be better. Its partially over riding the shift defuel that softens the shift for NVH purposes.

That makes sense to me... I really want to get the trans taken care of so I can stop worrying about it! Hurry up tax return!

i might add that i felt my trans felling weird but when i put my quad adr on it it started shifting crisp and smooth so that is just my story on that it might be something through the map that changes shift points?

I'm kinda wondering if adding a programmer (either Edge J/A or Smarty) would make the trans shift differently as well. It feels like under light throttle pressure it's flairing in 2nd. :argh:

Does it shift OK when you run it at half throttle or better?

Take it from someone who has been there, if it ain't right stock adding power is NOT going to help! ;)

The 05's were the first year with the TTVA and the program was not as good as later trucks. Theyneed some help to feel good stock. The DTT Shift Enhancer and an aftermarket gov solenoid do more to make them feel solid and keep them from eating themselves than anything short of building.

I tell you right now from personal exprience even with a shift enhancer and gov solenoid extra power WILL eat the trans. The stock unit is not setup to handle more power and thats just the way it is.

Well my plan is to buy a built trans with my tax return. That being said, if I don't end up with enough funds for that, what should I do to my existing trans other than VB and TC? Say if I wanted to dump $1500 to $2000 on it.

cerberus60 01-18-2010 07:40 PM

VB, TC, upgrade the front band stuff, upgrade the front band, upgrade both servos, billet input.

A good solid rebuild even with stock clutches will hold 500-600 HP and you should be able to get that for around $3000 or a little less.

Good to know. Any other sensors etc I should replace while I'm in there?

cerberus60 01-19-2010 12:21 PM

The notorious gov pressure solenoid. Nothing more annoying than spending $3k to get a trans that works and a $50 part causes problems.

No kidding! That's why I'm asking... These darn black magic boxes!
