Default 98.5 24 valve Cold start issues.

I have a 98.5 24 valve with an auto in it. It keeps on having issues on cold start it is a little better when it is plugged in but not much. Only mods on the truck are edge ez edge programer installed by the factory that gives it 85hp 115torque. any ideas and I can hear the lift pump working up to pressure but it does take a while to shut off after I turn the key on. Any help or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

How does the fuel filter look? Also the thing about the lift pump is you can hear it run but just because its running doesn't necessarily mean it is making pressure. With the edge ez on a stock lift pump it could be very likely the lift pump is going or gone, but from what i've heard they are hard to start when they are warm too if it is VP related.

I would tell ya to get a aftermarket lift pump like a FASS or Airdog quick most likely your lift pump is going if not already gone and do this before it takes out your VP

get a lift pump and take care of that vp...cant go wrong w/ an airdog...i started to but 2 cycle oil in each fill up and that has helped w/ cold starting a bit...you could give that a shot...one ounce per gallon of diesel

one quart per gallon is way too much, max you should run is 2 quarts a tank, theres a write up on here somewhere bout it you dont want 25-35 quarts of 2 cy in it

i looked it up to be sure, but its just like i thought, its 1-2 OUNCES per gallon of diesel

no prob, just didnt want anyone spending 70 bucks on 2 cycle oil per tank

but i do have a question, how do you have an edge box installed from the factory??? Ive never seen or heard of that. If you bought the truck used, maybe the previous owner put it on, but i highly doubt that dodge or cummins would put an aftermarket box on there from the factory.
