Young Gun...
IF your running a stock transmission and convertor then I would not reccomend any more than a 8 plate profile(230hp/605tq) as it will be the least likely to hurt a stock tranny. If you have a shift kit/convertor and /or any other transmission mods then I would suggest going bigger with a 5 plate(270hp/675tq) or the hard to find 4 plate(if I remember correctly it was rated around 310hp/700tq).The 8 will give you the best compromise of power and efficency on a stock tranny and not hurt your parts as fast.

Columbus Diesel Supply would be my choice.I know that John has had the Effingham Schieds shop do his work(think thats where Brad Ingram is at) and his truck runs well.So either would be a great choice and it would depend on the budget........Andy

The last event I was going to do this year for long trips was Schieds and that now has been derailed due to my Daughter leaving for college and me having to haul her stuff up there. Not sure yet how I got myself talked into it but I am going to enjoy spending time with her none the less.

I may get out for some one day stuff as it fits my schedule and I am searching for a 04.5-05 Solar Yellow CR right now to replace my old 12v.I want to have the lower door skins on mine redone and freshen the bullet for next year and generally give the old truck the show detail it needs to compete.I got my azz handed to me this summer by the trailer queens and the newer 3rd generation trucks so I need to step my game up some and in order to do that I need a new daily driver so I can freshen mine up.I am having terrible trouble finding a Solar Yellow Sport but hopefully soon one will croos my radar screen.

Ask John about my truck,he will tell you all about it.......Andy

One of our fellow members just sold a Solar Yellow CR!
I've heard about your truck, I hear its a sweet ride. I dont think I could ever go P-pump to CR. CR's just are not my thing.

We all really appreciate your discussion here at Diesel Bombers. We cant know it all and it takes a wealth of knowledge to run a site like this . Few sites take the paitence required for the newbies like this site. We all had to start somewhere! We're working on getting the guys up top to help get some real informative post going and make some stickies, I know myself and many others would be very greatful of your help and knowledge in this over the next few months!

I've got to give John a call and see how he's doing! I'll mention your name!

The 8 plate is the least likely canidate at 230hp/605tq to hurt your transmission.HOWEVER,Again,it depends on your driving habits and the condition of the transmission when you bought the truck. Also of note is placement of the 8 plate and the AFC housing for low end fueling. The quicker and harder you have the low end fuel come on the more likely you are to rattle the convertor and then its all down hill from there. There is risk in ANY modification you do to our trucks thus the reason for the old saying..."I am my own warranty station".

I understand about the Common Rail deal, but, its the color I want more than the CR so I will have to compromise.I actually would rather a 3500 LB SRW in that color but I would be satisified with a 2500 but I am looking for something clean.I found out about the one your chatting about(think it was lifted and waaayyyy over priced if I remember correctly)after the truck was sold.I was told it was listed on CF but I do not go there anymore for reasons beyond my control.

I am going to frame off my truck and repaint it hopefully for next year.I have been gathering the newer 99-up Sport front parts and am going to do the conversion when I do it and go to a roll pan out back instead of the bumper. To do that I want another truck so I can take my time and do it right. This truck has seen my daily driving duties since March of 99 when I bought it with 12k on it and it just rolled over 208k when it laid down 608hp at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals.I try and stop in as much as I can here becuase of some good friends hanging around and will do what I can to help........Andy
