I personally feel it more in how the plate is set. The 100 does fuel pretty quick, I was thinking if he was going this route he'd probably need a tranny much sooner than later!
Personally , I really prefer the 100 to most of the other plates. Who else has run a 100 and what are their thoughts on it?

what about a #100 slid a little back or in the stock location? instead of sliding it forward?

A #100 or #10 is a nice plate profile. You can tune back the fuel by sliding it back and keeping it sane. My Father-in-law has a #10 in his 95 auto and it works well. The Torque converter is the weakest link.

100 is the best and smoothest plate out there!
That would depend on what year and transmission you have.....

I have to laugh at how everyone thinks the 100 is the end all/be all for plate design.

If you would do a little research it would be plain to see the 10 plate profile which is part of the 100 is not the best fueling option for all years.Research Gang,do your homework.......Andy

I've ran em in every 12v I've owned or worked on and been extremely happy. While it's not the best for all if the arm is adjusted correctly , It is one of the smoothest and better fueling plate designs. If fueling big the plate needs to be "tuned" for the drivers needs and the RPM needs of the truck. It could mean a little grinding or maybe just moving the plate.

a #5 would be perfect for your truck. in my honest opinion i think the 5 i was running fueled harder then the 100 i got this 100 rolls half the coal the 5 did and it doesnt feal like it has the power it did before the 100

Again...
While a custom ground 100 plate may fuel a 5 speed truck hard due to the 10 profile which it uses,it is not the best choice for all pumps. It only takes understanding what each plate can do for each pump model to see what the differences are and why the 100 is NOT the end all/be all plate for a P-Pump.

It may work well when utilized in a stick truck but the automatics it will not give you your best performance option as the rating of the pump is completely different. Those subtle differences inside the lower HP rated P-Pumps are what would make the 100 inefficient and not your best option.

While I agree that many here and on other boards do not have the finances to have their pumps removed and taken to a pump shop for work,I will attest to how beneficial that really can be.Not only do you get the best combination for flow but you will gain a better understanding at what works and what doesn't and in the long run it will save you money.Even if you only have the pump benched and checked for tune and not built its a worth while experience.Once you meet your pump man and walk in his world you will see what point I am trying to make with regards to plate profiles and fueling.

As for your original question Young Gun....
It would depend on your trucks year and if its a stick or not as to what would be the best plate for milage and HP.......Andy

Andy, I agree completely. I've never tuned many auto p-pump trucks. Most every P-pump truck in our area is a 5spd. I also agree with the pump tuning. Its somthing every true enthusiest should spend the time to do. We've got one thats coming off here before long going to the pump shop. I was going to talk to John and see who he recommended, Whats your thought on the best pump shop. Everyone around has their opinions
