oil pressure question
hey guys i got a 04 ccsb 6spd. its got 186k on it and runs great tons of power very impressed blah blah blah... however i wish it held better oil pressure. maybe im use to 80psi from my old 12v? idk but at a idle when temp is about 200 little less maybe. it doesnt hold very much. maybe just above the first black (safe) line on the gauge.. is there anything i can do to help it out? maybe a bigger or better oil pump or maybe a new one? i just changed my oil to 15w40 rotella as i didnt no what the dealer used. thanks for the help guys

My 03 is the same way, 207k. It's way up there when cold, fluctuates with rpm when warm, and is usually on the lower end of the gauge at idol. You're good with the 15-40. I had the same concern but I think its normal. Could be because the gauge reads exactly what the sending unit is putting out. On some makes the gauge will always read "normal" or in the middle even when the actual pressure changes. For instance we checked a 99 ford and the gauge would not change even when the pressure went from 12psi at idle to 60psi at 3k. I read somewhere that the ford gauge wont drop until the pressure drops below 7psi!! So be glad you can see the exact reading. Don't mean to knock the ford guys You're welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.
