1st thing to consider: is how deep is your wallet? Plenty of reputable builders, Goerend, Garmond, Suncoast, PATC, Firepunk, DTT, ATS, just to name a couple off the top of my head. Maybe even one or two not so well known close to you that can build a solid tranny, like we have here. As far as to what components? At a bare minimum: SFI rated flex plate, triple disc converter, B/W HD solenoid, shift kit, billet front band anchor and strut and at least a front band a front clutch pack. Gut the TC anti drain back valve and turn up the line pressure "just a bit". Like I said, that is "bare minimum" and only if you've kept up on regular maintenance and haven't been beating on it, which isn't the case most of the time.
Keep in mind, most reputable builders
will not do a "bare minimum" build. I don't blame them. I did mine because I know who's driving....me (still suprising how much I ended up in to it) and my builder (friends for 30+ years) knows I'll drive within the limits of my tranny or if I do have a stupid moment, I'll own it.
