Thank you all for your help, i feel a lot better now about the purchase order that i had in my head now (5in TB exhaust, S&B DRY intake, gauges, tuner) i am still new to all of this but yall are making it a lot easier and understandable. After reading all of these i think smarty or smarty jr will be my best bet, i won’t get into smarty SSRs or EFI till further down the line.

newborn GOAT!,

When you say free flowing intake would the S&B dry filter intake be in that category? i looked up bd booster fooler, i get the overall concept but can you elaborate? and what is the cheapest way to get my trans where it needs to be (so i can mess around and crank up the torque without breaking anything) without buying an 8000 dollar sun coast (which don’t get me wrong would be awesome!!!!)

Any more suggestions on where to go from there as far as purchases???? I’m all ears!!!!!!!

well as far as the boost fooler goes, if you get a programmer that doesn't have that in the tuner already,,, such as a smarty,, youll need it so that your stock turbo will be more efficient as in "venting boost prematurely" without it.. pre 04.5 you can just get an after market wastegate to solve this but on our trucks instead of spending the $$ on that and having to pull turbo out to change that you just add the boost fooler in line w your map sensor (which is plug n play) and role on... basically fools your computer so that it doesn't open as soon and it will throw NO CODES!
as for the "free flowing intake".,. you can go from an aftermarket drop in and pulling all the plastic sh#@ out your stock tube, to getting a hole new air intake with ur preference... everyone has their own opinion on that.. none much different than the next just as long as there are NO RESTRICTIONS!!LOL... Im no gooroo on this but just have done a lot of research and did all my mods myself rather than bringing it to a shop.. feels like I know my truck better that way.. depending on tranny, if youre interested in your options give DPP (Diesel power performance) a call and tell them what youre lookin for and what you got and theyre more than helpful!!

good luck and let us know the outcome!!
by the way... I don't think youll be spending 8k anytime soon!

if youre talkin bout the quad. then I believe it is... don't quote me on it but I never looked into it much only bc when I was researching the boost fooler I never heard anything good about it and never heard anything bad bout the BD... look up their websites and weigh the differences...

I think the 2nd gens look great with the leveling kits on them, but its wise to replace the track bar with an adjustable one and get longer lower control arms to re center you axel to preven any funny tire wear..
