Also you have to think if your getting a loan your basically stuck with the truck until pay off, also I had a regular cab f150, and then got my ext cab. Powerstroke and I won't go back to a single cab it sucks, also depending how bad rust is it may be worse than rockers, did you check floorboards? How's motor and trans fluids look? All things to consider my friend. If you dont trust him about speedo cable I don't know if I'd buy it, what else could he be lying about? Does he have proof of transmission build?

Well I'm not gettin a loan and I don't want an extended cab because I want the long bed. I will have to see if my truck sells or not and then call the man to see what he says I'll keep everyone posted

my .02 I have owned 2 24v and the speedo has quit on both them at one time or another. They run off a speed sensor on the rear axle. Both mine were manuals but maybe the autos are different but this would definitely be a red flag of a possible lie. If he lies on one thing watch the rest. First one I couldn't figure out tried the sensor and the gauge cluster guessing the wiring was screwed up somewhere. second one was just the speed sensor on the rear axle

He tried he speed sensor and that wasn't it so I don't know what the problem is but I'm most likely not going to get the truck.

As I always tell anyone looking at 2nd generations, check to see if it has a 53 engine block. Been there done had to replace that!
