Turbo help
Hey there, I want to do my usual apology for possibly creating a redundant thread but I was not able to find my answer anywhere.
I have a new to me 01 Ram 2500 in what I would consider mint condition. It was making too much boost since I bought it making towing difficult due to the de-fueling it does when it holds the high boost too long.
I had time to rip everything off and found that the problem is not the waste gate actuator it works fine.
Turns out the problem is with the shaft that goes through the turbine housing that the waste gate flap sits on one side inside the housing and the arm attaches to the actuator on the outside.
We put a bunch of heat to it and got it to move with pliers but it is not usable. My question is, can you purchase either these parts separate or the entire turbine side alone?
I only ask as no one in town seems to wanna repair or provide anything but a new turbo, which is a shame as this one is in good shape besides the previously mentioned issue.
I don't to go too fancy with a turbo yet as I just put a 4" exhaust on it and would prefer to not have to replace that to mach to a different style turbine housing.
Am I stuck buying a used or re fab turbo?
I appreciate all that take the time to look and answer I have been searching the web for days and basically the only answer I can find is to get an HX or other turbo.
Thanks again.
