I really need help I don't know if the computer fried or what. Its a 2001 dodge ram cummins. It ran weird half way through the morning voltage gauge kept dropping and the trans wouldn't down shift to first then I started to get black smoke an hour later. pulled the air filter off a little truck ran great. for about 2 hrs. The voltage gauge still dropping to 8 or pinned all the way down if I turned it off and restarted it it would hover around 10 volts. Hour later driving home truck bogging running like crap wont go over 35 now it wont start at all.

I checked all the fuses there good I pulled all my codes p0230 p0236 p0380 p0382 p1689 p1693 p0743 p0748 p0753 p1682 p1693 p1765. I cleared all he codes and still no start wait to start lamp even cycles. Can anyone please help?

 

Sounds like your truck lost a alternator. Your engine ecm will do all kinds of weird stuff when the voltage gets too low. I would pull the battery out and charge it overnight. Install the battery back into the truck and see if it will start again. If it does you should take a volt meter and measure voltage DC from the positive post of the alternator to the negative post of the battery. If you don't have 13volts output then your alternator is junk.

 

Na not battery. Replaced injection pump not that either. jumper pin 2 to ground 0ff of injection pump truck started right up. alternator still wont charge I changed that a year ago. trans popping codes again abou torque convertor and governor. I think short or pcm. Gonna try computer then take it from there. to much weird crap all at once.
