Default What do I need for this?

I just got a truck.

A 1993 W350 Cummins 5 speed with 97000 miles on it. The truck is in very good shape. Just has a few minor issues.

It has the Banks Power Pack on it.

This is the turbo.

It has a Techincooler intercooler.

The injector pump does not look like it has been touched.

Anyone familiar with all these parts? I am looking to get this to 400 hp mainly for towing.

So what I'm wondering is if the turbo and intercooler are what I need?

I have a M&H timing advance and am going to order a M2 pin plus a 366 spring.

What other parts should I be picking up?

What'd they tell you on DTR? SWEET truck BTW. Start with gauges, then go for a nice new set of injectors, as well as tampering with your pump. 400hp you say? Well, I'd also look in to a different turbo or turbo's, 'cause I don't think what you have is going to support your hp goal. Personally, I'd be looking at a small(ish) set of twins, but you may find a large single that's support your fuel requirements. Studding the head is a must IMO at that sort of power, as is increasing your fuel supply. There are folks out there utilising a low pressure lift pump at that sort of level, but Airdog/Holley/FASS plus some others would work fine too, maybe even better. Umm, what else. Porting the head will help a little, and if I was you I'd be looking into sneaking an upgraded cam in there as well. Ooh nearly forgot, some heavier valve springs!!

Ok, now that I just built MY dream truck...!

I'm sure I've forgotten things, but that should do for now. Hopefully there will be plenty of others to give their opinions too. Hope this helps!

Towing, 400 horsepower= not easy at all. Its hard enough keeping 300 cool while towing.

Well That is a good point.

I guess instead of throwing a hp # out there I will put it this way.

I will set up the motor with.

Single turbo, aftermarket injectors and lift pump

It already has 4" exhaust and I just got a southbend clutch for it.

All with the goal of a reliable and powerful tow vehicle.

What ever the motor makes is what it makes.

The advice I am really looking for is what turbo/injector set up to get.

I really don't know much about injectors at all.

For 300 hp a 5x.012 (or a 370 horse tip) is plenty big enough. Do your homework on injectors. Some companys sell wrong spray angles due to the tips being cheaper. You just need to read until your eyeballs explode and then make some calls and ask the questions that will tell you if they will work for you.

Single turbo, aftermarket injectors and lift pumpIf you want to stick with what you have, just upgrade the compressor wheel. If it was me, I'd keep what I got as far as turbine housing.

It already has 4" exhaust and I just got a southbend clutch for it. Perfect!

My opinions/ideas in blue.

In the towing world, EGT is everything. Keep in mind that any load increases EGT. The more the load, the higher the EGT. Fuel = HP, it also = ^^^EGT. The balancing act is only supply enough fuel to maintain speed under load, and an excess of air to keep it cool during the long duration it has to do the job. My 91 is my tow pig. As you can see, I have a big turbo feeding only slightly larger than stock injectors with only a small increase in the fuel screw setting. Can I exceed the EGT limits (1250°)? Yes, at WOT under load. Can I maintain a safe EGT and hold 55mph pulling a 10,000lb trailer up a hill? Yes, I can. My guess I'm running around 230hp with that setup. I'm still thinking of doing the PS intercooler upgrade.
