Default Fuel Plates

whats the pros and cons of just removing a fuel plate or grinding it to a certain profile? i know its about fueling before boost but whats like the specifics? thanks for any clarification

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

or like is there anything wrong with full on removing the plate instead of grinding all the way down to a #0?

It may be ok for a truck that's mostly factory. Add injectors and governor springs and its a tuning nightmare.

Do you ever have problems with egt's or anything running no plate?
What makes it a tuning nightmare?

By removing the plate all pre boost fuel tuning is controlled with the AFC. Once the AFC is out of the way the fueling is controlled entirely with your foot. It makes smoke control and egt control more challenging, more so if towing. If governor springs are mixed in as well it tends to make the throttle a bit more touchy. With the plate installed your able control fueling through the entire powerband of the truck. There is such thing as to much fuel, but I see more and more, folks would rather accept lower power, more smoke, higher egts and more expensive repairs than doing it right in the first place....beats me.

oh so a lot safer engine control instead of everythin relying on your foot, thanks for all the info!
