the problem i have is today i noticed i needed a clutch fan while checking to make sure it was locked up i pushed down on it and the motor turned over. harmonic balancer turned and everything and also the truck smokes.Hey i'm no diesel mechanic but i know enough that i think the motor should'nt turn over that easy but i might be wrong i'm just worried i bought the truck not even a week ago.ANy help would be greatly appreciated i have a 12 month old and alot of bills and don't have money to put into her.

my name is jamison

truck has bully dog intake bully dog 4 inch turbo back ss exhaust.
bully dog stage 2 torque plate bully dog 215hp injectors, automatic with a bigger torque convertor.

if you just bought it recently and all those mods were already done... i would go out on a limb and say the truck has had the pee run out of it. blue is usually rings or scared walls and that would explain the easy spinning over... on my 12v you could spin it over pretty easy until a compression stroke, maybe you just caught it on the downstroke. try making a full revolution. good luck

blue is oil no way around it. could be bad seats in the head? does it clear up when it is up to operating temperature? i would lean seat if it does. if its white there is hope. and even with a set of worn rings or leaky seats it can run and run well for a long time. it will just use oil. all is not lost. check the amount of blow by when you get a chance.

your rings are gone. hate that that is my answer put low compression with blue smoke and blow by. its hard to argue what it is. tese engines arnt super high compression, something like 17.1 but on a compression stroke you fell it when it gets tight.

dumb of me sorry. should have thought of that. have you noted oil consumption? like a quart a month something of that nature?

Man good luck... Does it have an exsposed air filter? I have bought two different diesel trucks that had open top air boxes and both had bad motors. Dusted cylinders suck
