47rh T/C
How much would I need to spend for a T/C for my 47RH
Truck specs are:
'94 2500 RC/LB 4x4.
mileage 201.000 mls
aFe intake
TST #5 plate at 2/3 fwd pos.
4" Warpspeed turbo-back cat-elim. exhaust
160HP stock; after mods guessed at ~250HP
Can I still go for a stock T/C or would I need an upgraded one, and which. Would I need anything in addition to the T/C apart from the cooler?
Currently, there is erratic shifting up and down between 3rd-4th-O/D in the range of 45-75 mph. Short shuddering is felt in O/D when slightly decreasing the speed when being above 2,000 rpm
Thx.
Tom

I defintely wouldn't go back with a stock TC, their junk really. A decent single disc will do ya good, no need for the triple or 5 disc TCs that are out there at 250 or so. A good VB along with an aftermarket single disc will do wonders for the shifting.
The erratic shifting is most likely the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) failing. There are some various ways to try and fix them; using a good eletrical connection cleaner on it, seperating or running new wires outside of the loom to reduce "electrical noise" in the wires, and some guys have even taken the cover apart and cleaned it that way. I never had much luck with those fixes on mine (have a 94 also) and always ended up just getting a new TPS.

Sorry for getting back that late but for some reason I did not get a notification email on this thread!?!
Anyhow, thanks to you both for your feedback!
Since I am not a mechanic I would appreciate if you both could take a few pictures of what in detail you meant.
I.e. which wires need to be isolated (DM), where do the TPS cables run and terminate (Andy), and where exactly would I find the TPS itself (could not locate it yet browsing the maintenance guide CD I have!).
In your opinion, would the change of the complete TPS be a task I could perform myself or is expert knowledge asked so that I better ask my garage to take care of it?
@ Andy: Thx for the advise on the TC and VB.
Thanks
Tom
