i believe this to an extent. i have a friend i dragrace with. he was running his station waggon with a SBF (stock from the heads to the stock oil pan. no windadge tray or crank scraper) in it and was running a bracket class that required the car to be faster than an 8.99 in the 1/8 and he was consistantly running 9.10's. they told him he needed to speed it up to qualify for that race. he had just changed the oil in it and pit back in 5qts. he drained 1qt out and was then running 8.80's consistantly. he normally runs it with 4qts and i always did my mustang when i had it. it'll rev quicker and accelerate faster. this is in a motor with a rear sump pan so duting acceleration the oil slings to the rear where the pickup is at.
