Default 12v vs local lb7

So there's this kid running around my town with an lb7 with a 4 inch and recently got the ppe hot tune which is like 225 over stock or something and he's been telling everyone that it's got to be the fastest thing that he's ever driven and beats everything g he races (he's not that mechanically inclined) I have a 96 auto with mild trans work, no fuel plate, afc messed with and 4ks and a 4" out the back Do I stand a chance with keeping up with him just to show him my old beat up truck can run with his almighty dirtymax or will he destroy me?

depends, I've seen a lbz with similar mods (dirty *** cai, some tune he didn't know and exhaust) maybe something else mild and lifted put down 340 to the wheels, and my best friends truck that i built put down 405 with a turbo, 4 gsk, tuning and intake piping. depends if he has trans work would be the deciding factor i think. also if your running a hx35 you likely won't win but its possible. just make sure you 4x4 launch and you should beat him, 2wd you'll both spin all day. get a turbo and some injectors and you'll be spanking him. my mild truck forcing too much fuel through a small he351 beats on raptors and sports cars. don't see why you couldn't beat a dmax

If he knows how to drive it, I wouldn't expect to be happy with your results. There are some other factors to contribute though, as was mentioned, primarily 4wd. If you have it and he doesn't, boost the launch and don't screw up, you might be able to take him with your mods. I wouldn't even try it though, myself.

Ya with a hx35 it looks Grimm. Get a 60-64 mm turbo, put the plate back in and get injectors or dv's or both and you should beat him.

Yea, the stock hx35 is your problem area. I still have mine and a couple dirtymaxes have spanked my 12valve. Hopefully that will change one day when I get my compounds and injectors.
